Cholas in South had lot to do with scale of happening architecture











Shrirangam plan of temple complex by Cholas sets a new order in the Dravadian architecture:



[a] Concentric ring of wall enclosures with lofty gopurams.



[b] Inverted scale of structures in the temple complex; the gateway structures stood taller than main shrine in centre.



[c] In addition to the main structures are connecting corridors network, rectangular tanks, many pillared halls and other shrines to gods.
